I have a sign designated "SR2". What does that mean and how can I communicate to it?
Solution
The "SR2" designation in the part number means the model will accept ONLY RS422/RS485 serial input from a PC or other device. An RS232 to RS422/485 data converter IS REQUIRED to communicate to the display.
EDI part number "ED2300" will work. A data converter can also be found on most computer supply websites.
The ED2300 has the following specifications:
This device converts RS232 serial data to RS422/RS485 serial data. It is necessary to transmit serial data more than 75 feet or if multi-drop networking is required.
Sub-D connector plugs into the PC and screw-type terminal block allows for customer wiring into the display. 120VAC power connector provided.
